Professional Cushions Workshop
COURSE CONTENT
This one-day workshop is suitable for the beginner, and for those who can already sew but would like to learn some additional skills for creating professional cushions
Cushion Design
Choosing appropriate fabrics, fillings, decoration and fastenings for cushions.
Measuring and Cutting
Estimation of fabric quantities for cushions, accurate measurement and cutting of fabric, pattern placement and matching.
Decorative Techniques
An overview of decorative techniques for cushions, including piping, pin-tucks and appliqué. Making piping using bias strips and piping cord. How to achieve the perfect piped edge.
Fastenings
Using zipper and button fastenings in cushions. How to insert zippers professionally.
Project
Each student will create a square zipped, piped cushion cover to take home. All materials (including cushion pad) are provided and you will be able to choose from a wide selection of fabrics and trims.
