Choosing appropriate fabrics and curtain styles for a professional window treatment.
Measuring and Cutting
Measuring the window. Estimating quantities for main fabric and ancillary materials. Calculating drops and widths, fullness, hem and turning allowances. Accurate measurement and cutting of fabric, dealing with pattern repeats and pattern placement
Assembling
Joining fabric widths and assembling the main fabric and lining. Bottom hems, side hems and mitred corners
Headings
Using zipper and button fastenings in cushions. How to insert zippers professionally.
Tracks and Poles
An overview of tracks, poles and fittings. How to hang and dress curtains successfully.
Project
Each student will create a sample lined curtain to take home. All materials are provided and you will be able to choose from a wide selection of fabrics and heading tapes
